 John B Keane - 10th Anniversary
Today, 30th May marks the tenth year of the passing of the great John B Keane. John B passed away at his home in Listowel on the eve of Listowel's Writer's Week, the event which he founded over 40 years ago and still flourishes in our town. John B was an avid GAA fan and was always a very active member within our club Listowel Emmets.
He had a great love for Juvenile football and we at Emmets celebrate the 9th year of the John B Keane League on Friday 8th June, where our young aspiring footballers battle it out for the John B Keane Town League title. John B remains sadly missed by us all in Listowel Emmets but we're sure John B would have been very proud to be associated with a competition that creates such excitement and enjoyment for all involved. We can also count ourselves fortunate to have met him and known him. We can be grateful that we could share the reflected glory of his exploits and sometimes his unrivalled company.
