posted 9 Sep 2014, 04:14 by Listowel Emmets

The 10th Annual Browne Bookmakers Jim Corridan Tournament took place on Saturday and Sunday at Frank Sheehy Park, Listowel under glorious sunshine and perfect conditions. The U8 tournament opened proceedings with some fine games played these sides, the A Final saw the home side prevailed over strong opposition from St. Senan's while Ballydonoghue had the better of Emmets in the B Final.

Sunday saw previous Jim Corridon Tournament Champions Canovee travel from Cork, while Fr. Casey's Abbeyfeale along with Moyvane, Ballydonoghue and last year's champions Ballyduff made a return trip. Fr. Casey's after impressive wins in each of their games saw them progress to the A Final along with Ballyduff while Canovee and Ballydonoghue battled it out for the B Final, Listowel overcame a very strong challenge from St. Senan's in a 10 goal feast in the C Final while Moyvane had the upper hand of Emmets in the D Final.

Sean Moriarty thanked Patsy McCarthy for his organisation of a great weekend of football, he thanked everyone for attending and to all the supporters. He thanked Eric & Berkie Browne of Browne Bookmakers for their continued support of the Tournament - without it Emmets would not be able to run the event which is now a firm stable in the Coiste na nÓg calendar. Finally he congratulated all the winners of the various finals and hoped to see them all back in action this time next year.
