Emmets U14's : The Under 14 County League Division 3 semi final between Listowel Emmets and the combination side of Annascaul/Lispole met in Listowel on Wednesday night last. Emmet’s finished top of the table during the league campaign and their hopes were high to make the final stop. However, on the night the boys had a slow start to the game and were 8 points down at half time, the men from the west had got stuck in from the start and good performances by their midfield and full forward line secured their advantage.

Emmets came out for the second half a different team, playing the kind of football that got then to the semi-final stage. They pulled the score back to one point with only 5 mins left and were very unlucky not to convert 2 great goal chances. Emmets dug deep from the start of the second half thanks to great efforts by the outstanding Niall Collins, he was helped in his efforts by Tom Melvin, Bryan Sweeney, Jack Wall and Christian Elbell. Emmets received great support from the crowd on the night, and a big thank you to all who turned out to support them. A huge thank you must go to the team management and selectors who put in a great job also, Nick Roberts, Tom Wall, Tommy Sweeney, Gerdie Collins and Peter McCarthy.

Emmets Seniors:

meet with Na Gaeil in the Intermediate Shield on Saturday night last and went down on a scoreline of Emmets 1-10 Na Gaeil 0-15. Emmets started brightly with points from Conor Cox, and seemed to be in control of the game as they dominated most sectors of the field, going in at the break leading by three points (0-9 to 0-6).

Na Gaeil threw everything at the Listowel side in the second half and it paid its dividend as they began to pick off easy scores and were level within 10 minutes. Scanlan netted for the vistors as his shot hit off a Na Gaeil player and rolled to the back of the net. Na Gaeil once again fought back gallantly and drew level again. In the closing minutes of the game the home side slotted over a point from the menacing half forward and put his side in front for the first time in the game. Emmets in the movement of play previous to the point were unlucky not to goal when Darren Halpin's shot was saved by the Na Gaeil keeper. Na Gaeil pointed again before the final whistle and earned their spot in the semi final. Best for Listowel Conor Cox and Shane O'Neill
