Awards Night: Emmets held their annual awards night in Christy’s on Saturday night last to honour our County Junior League and North Kerry League Champions as well as our three in a row North Kerry Novice Champions and North Kerry League winners. Our awards night coincided with the opening of the New Function Room at Christy’s Bar where a great night was had by all, well done to Christy and his staff who laid out a fantastic sit down meal with plenty refreshments, while the Promise entertained the large crowd in attendance.
Each of the teams were presented with their medals and the following players were named players of the year. The C Team Player of the Year was Derek Dillon, he had a great year with the Emmets in 2014 playing at corner forward and was most deserving of his award for his commitment and dedication. The B Team Player of the Year went to Keith Hughes, another player whose commitment is second to none, he had a great year for the juniors minding the net and we hope to see him progress further in the year ahead. The A team player of the Year went to Emmets Rock at full back Jack McGuire, this unassuming young player is everything you would want or need in a full back and we wish all the best with Kerry and Emmets in the year ahead.
Club Person of the year award goes to Patsy McCarthy who has worked tirelessly over the past 15 years to training the Emmets U8s and U10s and in the last 5 years has coordinated the Saturday Morning Club. This is no easy task with upwards of 100 players involved it took a lot of patience and commitment to get games and competitions for these players. In the five years Patsy has been coordinating he hasn’t missed a Saturday morning training and is always first to arrive to pump up balls and set out the pitches for each of the teams. We thank him most sincerely for all his work and time over the past 10/15 years and he hope he will still stay involved in some capacity. Well done Patsy.

Seniors played Corca Dhuibhne in the second round of the County League in Lispole on Sunday. It was a tough game against a very strong Corca Dhuibhne team but the girls showed their commitment to the game with holding a lot of possession in the second half. Score 3-10 to 2-05. Thanks to all that travelled.
Under 16s ladies will train in St. Michaels hall on Thursday the 12th at 5p.m.
Under 14s are back in training in the Cows Lawn on Saturdays at 11 a.m.
Under 12s also played Corca Dhuibhne last weekend. Hugely exciting match with both teams battling it out to the end. Corca Dhuibne went in at half time 2 points up. Corca Dhuibhne triumphed in the end with a late goal to win by one point. Emmets girls were outstanding from start to finish and can count themselves very unlucky on their first outing of the year. Big thanks to all who travelled and thanks also to our hosts who provided refreshments at the end.
Under 8/10s training will begin in the next few weeks
