Senior County League:

Emmets drew with Castlegregory in Sunday last in a clash which would see winner survive in division two and losers demoted to division three. This game lived up to all expectations with the Listowel Side opening the scoring with a point from Conor Cox, this was quickly followed by a pointed free from Noel Kennelly and another moments later from Derek Galvin. Emmets controlled the opening quarter with both Paudie Buckley and Brian McGuire performing well. As Emmets went 0-4 to no score up thanks to a good point from John James Buckley it looked as if Emmets would cruise to on to victory. However Michéal O'Sé began to make his presence felt at midfield finding Alan Fitzgerald who opened their scoring on the 21st minute, Cox linked well with Galvin and Kennelly to put Emmets 4 points up again but the Castlegregory come back began in earnest as indiscipline in the Emmets defence saw the home side take 4 points in succession from frees. Conor Cox pointed again for Emmets to leave the half time score 0-8 to 0-7 .

The Castlegregory purple patch continued into the second half as both sides were level for the first time in the game, Emmets only danger man Conor Cox fired over another point to leave the minimum between the sides, Brian McGuire and Denis Walsh linked well as Walsh on a darting run that saw him glide around his marker, and with still a lot to do, he drilled the ball low across the keeper and into the back of the net. However. it was far from over as Emmets began to squander their chances with wide after wide while Castlegregory drove forward and took three unanswered points from play. The closing minutes of the game saw Castlegregory get their equaliser. All in all a draw was a fair result for both sides who gave it their all.
