Listowel Emmets met Beale in the 2nd round of the North Kerry Senior League last Saturday night in Frank Sheehy Park. Emmets who were missing a few regulars started brightly but their effort was to fall short against a rapidly improving Beale side. Noel Kennelly opened the scoring with a point from a free. Both sides were guilty of wayward shooting and scrappy football. Cormac Mulvihill found room in the full forward line and kicked a fine point from an awkward angle. Just before the break Beale hit a purple patch and scored 1-02 within six minutes to leave the 5 points (1-04 to 0-02) ahead at Half-Time.
On the resumption Emmets once again started well with Noel Kennelly and Cormac Mulvihill adding points. Kennelly then converted another free. A sweeping movement involving Billy Doyle, Michael Lynch and Cormac Mulvihill led to Noel Kennelly driving over another point. Listowel were playing much better but Beale kicked on again to finish the game strongly. Final Score: Listowel Emmets 0-06 Beale 1-08. Best for Listowel were Cormac Mulvihill and Graeme Tarrant. It was good to see the return of Brian Murphy, Paudie Buckley and Eddie Joe Walsh to the Listowel Panel.

Listowel Emmets Ladies
U 12 GIRLS: The opening game of the season was at home to Corca Dhuibhne on Saturday. The hard work the girls did in training during the last 3 weeks was realized in the manner in which they scored. The final score, 1-01 to 4-05 doesn’t convey the excellent play throughout the game. Their coach said "All the players played to their best, that's all we ask the girls to do, play to their strengths" Thank you to all the coaches, parents and supporters for their help and enthusiasm.
COUNTY LEAGUE: Junior side travelled to Tralee last Saturday to play Dingle. Several players from the previous weekends win were missing. Despite that Listowel started brightly and two Olivia Scanlon goals in the first half saw them lead at half time. In the second half Dingle began to dominate and eventually they ran out winners on a scoreline 4-10 to 3-03. Speedy recoveries are wished to Aishling, Alice and Shauna who are out injured at the moment. Senior team travelled to Caherselee a to play Sneem/Kenmare on Sunday. They claimed victory after a titanic struggle against a very determined opposition. Final score Listowel Emmets 2-13 Sneem/Kenmare 3-02. This win will go a long way to securing Division One Status again for next year.
Well done to Sarah Sheehy who played with Abbeyfeale Colaiste Ide agus Iosef who defeated reigning Champs St Leo’s of Carlow in the Tesco All Ireland Post Primary Senior ‘A’ Championship Semi Final in Nenagh on Saturday.
