Results and Fixtures:
Sponsored by McMunns Bar & Restaurant Ballybunion - 2013 Bernard O'Callaghan Memorial North Kerry Senior Football Championship Semi Final:
Listowel Emmets 0-12
Brosna 0-11
Con Brosnan Park in Moyvane was the venue for this North Kerry Senior Football Championship semi-final between Listowel Emmets and Brosna.
While Brosna dominated large parts of this game Listowel Emmets showed superior fitness and a mental toughness that saw them coming back from a 5 point deficit to eventually win the game by a single point.
Brosna started the game very brightly and found themselves 2 up after three minutes. Emmets managed to stay in touch during the half through the boot of Conor Cox from the dead ball. With Jamie Barry wearing no. 7 but playing at wing forward adding the only score from play for Emmets in the first half.
Emmets attacking movements seemed to consistently break down and it was obvious that Brosna were not there just to make up the numbers. They attacked in waves and put 9 points on the board at half time compared to Emmets 6.
The second half seemed to show improved urgency from Listowel but Brosna maintained the high standard they set in the first half during the early exchanges.
The 45th minute was a turning point in this game as Emmets began to start dominating midfield and Bryan Murphy put over a lovely score off the right.
Emmets began to drag themselves back into the game with well taken scores from Noel Kennelly on 49’ and Cox again on 51’. Improved tenacity in the tackle and a tightening up of matters in defence saw Listowel start to pick up a few valuable scores and Brosna began to stutter slightly registering only one score in the final third of the game.
Though still not playing with any great fluidity Emmets found themselves 0-12 – 0-11 up with 8 minutes on the clock. The final ten minutes of the game were nail biting for the black and amber support as Brosna made a number of last minute efforts to salvage a draw but to no avail as Emmets march onto a North Kerry Championship Final on the 15th December against the winners of Finuge and Desmonds.

The Table Quiz took place last Saturday night 30th November in the Intermediate School Killorglin. The standard was so high it kept everyone on the edge of their seat until the very end. At full time 3 teams were neck and neck. Listowel, Spa/Muckross and Curragh. It took 2 tie breakers before the winners were finally announced. Spa/Muckross took a lead of 1 point on the 2nd tie breaker and made it through to the All Ireland Final. Well done to our Emmets team made up of Daniel Sheehan, Shawn Carey, Eddie Brown and Jack O Donovan who put on a tremendous performance, we are all very proud of you. We hope to see you back again next year. A big than you to their mentor Mary Catherine Sheehan for all the hardwork and organisation she has put into preparing the team.
