Scór

Coiste Scór na bPaistí Chiarrai Thuaidh took place last Sunday 26th Feb in the Tintean, Ballybunion to a packed Theatre. The audience was treated to over five hours of fantastic entertainment from the young competitors of North Kerry, representing 11 clubs. The evening finished with a performance from the Scór na nÓg 2012 All Ireland Music Winners from Ballydonoghue who represented Kerry in Castlebar, Mayo a few weeks ago.

Emmets were well represented on the day. Olivia Stack took the North Kerry title for Amhranaoiocht Aonaoir singing Lough Sheelin Side against very strong competition from 8 other clubs. Our Quiz Team, Daniel Sheehan, Ciaran Pierse, Eddie Brown, Shawn Carey took the title for Trath na gCeisteanna giving an oustanding performance answering 21 out of the 22 questions correctly. Well done to their Coach Brenda Pierse all the hard work paid off.
Commiserations to our other 2 acts who both gave outstanding performances but weren't the judges choice on the day to go forward to the semi final on this occasion. Seamus O Sullivan gave a brilliant Recitation of Peig the Damsels Slate House. He did the club proud and came in a commendable 3rd place out of 8 competitors thanks to his coach Frances Kennedy.
Our Ceol Uirlise - Music Group were unfortunate also on the day. Comprising Meabh Trench, Edel Quinn, Darragh Mackessy, Aisling Keane. They played 2 tunes. The Humours of Ennistymon and The Mountain Tune. Again they received a very commendable 3rd place out of 10 groups which is a great achievement and great credit to their coach Karen Trench.

Finally, congratulations to Jack Hennessy and his team for another very successful and well organised day of Scór. Also, a huge thank you to all our young comeptitors, their tutors and their parents. Without you it would not be possible. You did us all very proud.

Next up is the County Semi Final in Currow Sunday 11th March @ 2pm for Olivia Stack Singing and our Quiz Team- Daniel Sheehan, Ciaran Pierse, Eddie Brown, Shawn Carey.

Listowel Emmets Seniors

McCarthy Insurance Brokers Senior League Div 1B
Listowel Emmets 0-13 Tarbert 0-04

Listowel Emmets and Tarbert met in the opening round of the McCarthy Insurance Brokers North Kerry League in idyllic conditions in Frank Sheehy Park on Saturday night last. Emmets went in at half time 5 points up 0-07 to 0-02 but it was far from a stroll in the park as the scoreline suggests. Tarbert got off to the better start with Donal Leahy taking the opening score. Noel Kennelly and Brendan Guiney got stuck in at midfield for the home side breaking and winning hard earned ball with Micheál Lynch showing well and taking good scores from play. Noel Kennelly worked very hard to get on the ball and took some fine scores from placed balls while the younger players making their debut in the senior squad showed very well.

Listowel Emmets Ladies

RESULTS:

AXA Insurance County League:

Emmets Junior side travelled to Ballybunion on Saturday to play Beale in the first round in Division 4 of the County League. They put in an excellent performance on the day and emerged winners 3-6 to 1-4. It was great to see the return of Aoife Gallagher to the Listowel jersey and she played a large part in helping this young side perform on the day. Thanks to Laura, Kate and Dobs for looking after the team.

On Sunday the senior side made their Division 1 debut in the County League. They played last year’s county champions Laune Rangers in Listowel. Despite giving their young years they gave their more illustrious opponents a real game and went in leading by 4 pts at half time. A whirlwind start to the second half saw Listowel hit 3 goals within 10 minutes of the restart. They then went on to record a very impressive and morale boosting win by 5-12 to 2-10. All 15 girls who played gave their all and were excellent on the day. It was great to see the great support and encouragement on the day from parents and younger members of the club.
