Listowel Emmets Ladies
After the narrow defeat to Sneem Kenmare last week in the county League the Senior ladies returned to winning ways with a deserving victory against Na Gaeil in the North Kerry League. Played in Tralee on Sunday, this was a hard fought game for Listowel with both teams without their inter county senior players who were on duty with Kerry against Kildare.
Listowel played with the wind in the first half and got off to a good start with an early goal from Miriam O'Keeffe. However for the first ten minutes Listowel found it hard to handle the Na Gaeil midfield and forwards who were very fast and strong on the ball. The defense stayed very strong as a unit however with great support from players coming out from defense especially from Aoife Gallagher and Caoimhe O'Sullivan. Katie Wall was back between the posts after O'Connor cup duty with UCD and she made a very important save midway through the first half and commanded the goal area for the first 30 mins.  A point from Norma O'Sullivan and three from Miriam O'Keeffe gave Listowel a comfortable lead and this was enhanced when Miriam O'Keffee converted a penalty after a foul on Joanne Fitzgerald. Na Gaeil got just one point in the first half and Listowel lead 2-04 to a point at half time.  With Listowel against  the wind in the second half scores were always going to be hard to come by but a well taken goal from Aoife Kennelly and two superb points from Laura Foley and Aoife Shine put the game beyond Na Gaeil.
Mid way through the second half Katie Wall was replaced in goal by Joanne Fitzgerald and she caught some great balls to prevent scores. The final score was Listowel 3-06 Na Gaeil 0-03, a result that secures a place in the North Kerry league final for Listowel. This was a great victory for the Listowel team who were without a number of this years regulars; Captain Kate Sayers, Breda Lane, Rebecca and Rachel Stapleton, Savannah Mc Carthy. Heather O'Rourke returned from injury  to have a solid performance at full back and will be a great addition in the coming weeks.

Our U12’s braved a bitterly cold Sunday morning when they played Ballyduff. The girls have now taken part in six training sessions and played 4 games this season. Five U12 girls are taking part in the Kerry development trials. Best of luck to Rebecca Mason, Niamh Canty, Fionnula Keane, Sally O’Flynn and Diane Maloney in the upcoming North V South Kerry challenge match.  The next Emmets U12 game will be against Castleisland.

The Saturday Morning Club has recently resumed. This is a fantastic opportunity for girls to be part of a team and get regular exercise with their friends.  All girls under 8/10 are invited to come along and new players are always welcome. The programme will run every Saturday morning in Frank Sheehy park from 10.30 A.M. to 12.00 P.M.

Gaelic4Mothers+Others starts off on Thursday nights with a walk/ jog / crawl...whatever takes your fancy! Meeting at the clubhouse at 8pm for the next few weeks until the evenings get brighter. Training will commence on April 11th. Why not join the girls and get out of the house for a walk every Thursday night until then. Bring and friend and set your own pace.

Best wishes to our own Savannah McCarthy who captains Ireland Under 17's this week in Austria and celebrates her 16th birthday!

Emmets Ladies would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Leah Dore and her family and to Lucy Trant and the Guiney family on their recent bereavements. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
