Listowel Emmets Ladies

On Saturday last Listowel Emmets travelled to Clonakilty for the Munster 7’s tournament bidding for three cup final victories in a row. Due to the small numbers of intermediate teams in the competition Listowel found themselves pitted in what could have been called the group of death alongside 3 senior clubs! After winning their first game against west Cork side Rosscarbery they then faced two of the greats of club football in ladies football; Ballymacarbry of Waterford and Donoughmore of Cork. On both occasions the girls battled very hard but failed to pick up a point from these games. An intermediate final place ensued against Comeragh Rangers from Waterford and following a slow start Listowel came up short by a single goal. Many thanks to Jim, Eamon, Batt and Catherine for travelling with the team. Panel on the day: Katie Wall, Rachel Stapleton, Rebecca Stapleton, Meghan Galvin, Caoimhe O’Sullivan, Norma O’Sullivan, Mary Beades, Miriam O’Keeffe, Laura Lavery, Heather O’Rourke, Aoife Shine, Savannah Mc Carthy. The adult teams will now prepare for the Novice Championship and Intermediate Final which is running over from 2011.

The U14’s played Kilcummin last Thursday winning on a final scoreline of 5-4 to 4-8. They are now through to the semi final with one game remaining against Finuge.

The U12s travelled to Currow last Sunday and were unfortunate to lose by a goal. The final score was Currow 2-2 to Listowel 1-2. Thank you to all the parents who drove to the game.

The U8’s/10’s had a great game on Monday night in Duagh, thank you to our hosts. Training continues every Saturday morning at 10.30 am. This Sunday the U10’s take part in a Blitz in Abbeydorney. Best of luck to all the players.

Even with the terrible downpours which seem to happen every Thursday we have seen lots of new members joining Gaelic4Mothers+Others. If you are interested in participating it takes place each Thursday at St Michaels College at 8pm.

Listowel Emmets Ladies would like to thank everyone who so generously supported our church gate collection last weekend. Your support is greatly appreciated.
