Emmets Senior Ladies

: Emmets Ladies were defeated in the final of the County League Division two on Sunday last in Kilcummin. Emmets had a comfortable lead of six points mid way through the second half but a never say die attitude by the combination side of Sneem/Kenmare dug deep and pulled off a two point victory over the Listowel side. Final Score Emmets 2-7 Sneem/Kenmare 3-6. Well done to all the girls who really did us proud on the day and were unlucky not to get a final goal in the closing minutes of the game. Best for Listowel Meghan Galvin, Miriam O'Keffee and Laura Lavery.
Fixtures & Results: Emmets U12's: Emmets A, B and C teams had good home wins in the County League on Sunday evening last with all three teams up against Spa. Emmets clocked up a big score in the A game knocking 7 goals to the Spa net final score Emmets A 7-12 Spa A 1-1. Emmets B team also knocked up a big score winning out by 8-9 to 5-3 while the C team also had a good win 2-5 to 1-6. This weekend 22nd May Emmets A and B teams are away to Kerins O'Rahilly's while the C team have their final round of the league which sees them away to Dr. Crokes. The league tables see Emmets A on top of Division 1A with 8points hotly on their heels are Austin Stacks on 7 points while the B team are joint second and the C team also lie second. We wish all three teams the best of luck in the closing games of the league.

Emmets Juniors:

Emmets B team were unlucky in the opening round of the county league on Friday night last where Miltown Castlemaine defeated them on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-06. They next meet Rathmore in Rathmore on Friday night next 20th May at 7.30pm.

Emmets Seniors:

were defeated by their old rivals Finuge in round 4 of the county league. Emmets started the better but wayward shooting by the Listowel side meant that Finuge were 3 points to the good before Emmets registered a score thanks to the boot of Conor Cox. Emmets got more into the game in the closing ten minutes of the half as veteran Paudie Buckley and Denis Walsh and Brendan Guiney got more on the ball. As the first half drew to a close and against the run of play Finuge managed to surge forward with a looming ball into the full forward line, Enda Galvin got to the end of it and hit the back of the Emmets net leaving the half time score Emmets 0-5 Finuge 1-8. Finuge began the better on the resumption but wayward shooting and better defeating by Emmets saw a lot of misplaced shots. In a good movement of play between Ger McCarthy, David Ryan Conor Cox and Brian Scanlan Emmets managed to rattle the back of the Finuge net, this seemed to spur on the visitors as Cox took another point from play, however, the ever menacing Fitzmaurice managed to knock over another point for the home team to keep daylight between the two sides. The closing quarter of the game was intensely fought as Emmets who owned a lot of the ball took two points from play, and had the chance of taking a goal but the ever reliable Pat Corridan got the vital touch to put the ball out of play. Final Score Finuge 1-10 Emmets 1-8. Best for Emmets were Conor Cox, Billy Doyle and Sean O'Mahony. Emmets next meet Spa in the County League back game in Listowel on Saturday night 21st May at 7pm.
