AGM

Emmets held their annual convention on Friday night last at the clubhouse. A number of officers were appointed to the Club executive for 2012. Anthony Greaney was appointed new Club President with John McMahon and Joe Haplin added to the vice president role. John Hartnett takes on the role of Chairman from Mikey Kennelly, Norah Browne takes up the position of Secretary while Andrian Kirby is the new club PRO. The remaining roles within the club are unchanged for the 2012 season. The Field Committee outlined the worked carried out on the facilities at Frank Sheehy Park over the past year and after a good discussion on all aspects of the field, they outlined their plan for remedial works to be undertaken in the coming season to repair the surface of the pitch. The club would like to sincerely thank all who attended their AGM and in particular we would like to acknowledge and thank Mikey Kennelly for his work and dedication to the black and amber over the last five years and we hope to see him still involved at some level.

North Kerry U21 Championship

Emmets U21s were defeated by Desmonds in the quarter final of the North Kerry Championship on Sunday last in Duagh. Emmets got off to a great start with Darragh Leahy, Cormac Mulvihill and Brian Murphy getting on the scoreboard with Morgan Sheehy and John Heaphy doing well also. Desmonds registered their first score of the 13th minute and from there to the final whistle dug deep and ground out a hard earned victory. Emmets found themselves in the back foot just inside the second quarter as the Desmond half back line applied the pressure with Emmets unable to cope with its enslaught. Desmonds full forward Hickey struck for goal on the 18th minute leaving them a point ahead. Both teams exchanged points before the break to leave the half time score Emmets 0-6 Desmonds 1-6. On the resumption Emmets once again held a wealth of possession but were unable to convert to scores kicking four wides in succession. Desmonds on the other hand found their scores with ease and aided by a stiff breeze were never going to be caught final score Emmets 0-10 Desmonds 1-14.
