Awards night:

Emmets Coiste na nÓg held their awards night in the Clubhouse on Friday night last, the evening began with Coiste na nÓg Chairman Sean Moriarty addressing the group, he thanked everyone for their contribution throughout the year and especially thanked Brian McGuire for making a very special effort to be there. The evening began with honouring our U16 Heroes who won the North Kerry Championship in 2011, Paddy Walsh thanked his panel of players for the huge effort they put in last year and it paid off in the best possible way by winning the North Kerry Championship. The U16 Player of the year was Jake Moriarty, he is a very versatile player, who is dependable and reliable. Well done Jake.

The U-15 Player of the year went to Leo O'Connell, Leo is a man you can trust and depend upon and he really has made an impact this year, Kevin highlighted one game of the county league this year where Leo started in goals pulled off a great save, his hand was "sore" afterwards and he was moved to corner forward where he scored the winning goal. Later that evening Kevin got a call from Leo that his hand was actually broken so in true North Kerry style he played through the pain barrier to insure his team could play on and win the game. Well done to Leo.

Tommy Sweeney, thanked the contribution the U-13 and U-14 players, they didn't win any silverware but as Tommy pointed out this will come too in time for this very vibrant bunch of players. The U-14 Player of the year went to Niall Kirby and the U-13 Player of the year to Mikey Hartnett.

It was then the turn of Patsy McCarthy and his Saturday morning crew he invited Martin O'Brien to call out the U10 team to receive their medals from Brian McGuire with Devon McKenna picking up the player of the year award, Devon had a great year with Emmets at Midfield and in the back lines he is a real promising footballer and we hope he continues to flourish in the black and amber , well done to Devon.

Kieran Lynch was next up with the U9 team, Tom Harte was voted as player of the year and as Kieran highlighted he could place in any position on the pitch as he is a very versatile player and is always at training. This was not the first award Tom has picked up in his young career at Emmets he also won the talent show back in October during the Saturday Morning Club end of season trip to Cork, well done Tom. improvement throughout the year.

The U-8 panel were next up with John Mc Elligott stating that they had a great year throughout 2011 and they were already looking forward to the beginning of the 2012 season, player of the year went to Aeron Broderick for his continued improvement throughout the year and commitment to training, well done Aeron.

The U-7s panel were in great form collecting their medals from Brian McGuire and all they wanted to know was when would they be back training! These are a great bunch of players who love their football, well done to Darragh Carey who received the player of the year award. DJ thanked all for their hard work throughout the year.

The biggest cheer of the night came for the U-6's who had a great year learning the basic skills of Gaelic Football under the stewardship of Jacinta Kennedy and Billy McElligott. The U-6 Player of the year award went to Bobby Houlihan and the U6 Girl player of the year went to Trina Kennedy both were presented their awards by Brian McGuire.

Sean Moriarty once again thanked everyone involved in the Saturday morning club and without their help and support it would not be the success it is today. The start date back for the Saturday Morning group will be Saturday 24th March 2012 at 10.30am.

The Grand Finale of the night was the presentation of medals to the victorious U-12A team who won the County League Division 1 and the North Kerry League. Mark Loughnane in jovial mood expressed his sincere thanks to the players who worked so hard all year and improved immensely to win the County Title. Darren Loughnane was awarded Player of the year , he had a great year in the black and amber he gives 100% all of the time and highly dependable, well done Darren. The B team were next up they also had a great year also unlucky not to win the County League but were rewarded by winning the North Kerry U12 B league, with Jake Kelly winning the player of the year award. The U12C team were also commended on the night for their good County League campaign with Daniel Houlihan receiving player of the year.

Finally, a big thank you to Conor Moriarty and Sean Moriarty for all their help in ensuring the night was a great success and to Brian McGuire for giving so freely of his time to meet and advise our young players.
