Emmets Seniors

Emmets and Castlisland Desmonds met in the final round of the McCarthy Insurance Brokers League on Sunday last in Castleisland, the vistors got off to the best possible start as Michéal Lynch struck high to the top of the Desmonds net. Cormac Mulvihill put four between the sides within as many minutes as Jamie Barry and Mulvihill combined well for a good finish. Kennelly, Walsh and Barry held an amount of possession in the opening half but failed to convert these chances into the scores. Just before half time Emmets combined well to find Micheal Lynch wh once again who sent a piledriver to the back of the Desmonds net leaving the half time score Emmets 2-03 Castleisland Desmonds 0-06.

On the resumption Cormac Mulvihill opened the scoring once again for Emmets with a fine score from play. Desmonds however, began to get a foothold at midfield and picked off some good scores from play. Kennelly and Murphy exchanged points for Emmets and Murphy finished well on a good movement of play between Lynch and Buckley. Final Score Emmets 2-07 Castleisland Desmonds 0-11. A good result by Emmets away from home with the younger players in particular showing well, Emmets did however make hard work of the game and should have been out of sight at half time. Best for Emmets were Brendan Guiney, Jamie Barry, Cormac Mulvihill and Micheal Lynch.

Scór na bPaistí County Semi Final
Took place last Sunday 11th March in Currow Community Hall: Listowel Emmets were once again well represented on the day and all our competitors qualified to the County Final in two weeks time. Olivia Stack was the Judges choice on the day in the Solo Singing amongst very strong opposition. Our quiz team made up of Daniel Sheehan, Ciaran Pierse, Eddie Brown and Shawn Carey yet again gave another outstanding performance answering all the questions correctly in the quiz. Congratulations to their coach Brenda Pierse.

Well done to the other acts from St Senans, Moyvane and Ballydonoghue representing the North Kerry Football Board and who all qualified to the County Final. Unfortunately, the Ballylongford Figure Dancers werent the Judges choice to qualify on this occasion to County Level. Well done to them in winning their North Kerry Title and on getting this far in the Competition.

North Kerry will be well represented in 7 out of the 8 competitions in the County Final - Solo Singing, Instrumental Music, Ballad Group, Recitation, Quiz, Novelty Act and Set Dancing.
