Emmets Coiste na nÓg

Under 6s: had their end of season trip to the Playdium in Tralee on Saturday last, where the boys and girls had lots of fun. Denis Walsh Emmets Club Captain presented medals and certificates to each of the boys and girls. We all had lots of fun throughout the year and we hope you all enjoyed it. We wish all our players the best of luck with school in September especially all those who are starting out in school for the first time and we will see you all again in February.

Under 12s: Tim Kennelly Tournament which will be held in Frank Sheehy Park, Listowel on Sunday next 18th August from 11am. This year the tournament ties in with the gathering Ireland initiative and we have teams travelling from New York, Cork and North and South Kerry. The Annual Tim Kennelly Tournament encompasses everything that is great about the GAA, it involves players aged 12 years of age competing in a fun environment for the ultimate prize of the Tim Kennelly Shield Trophy. The tournament itself sets out to finish off the year for under 12 teams, whose football year tends to end in August. The tournament is aptly named after Emmets own former hero Tim “The Horse” Kennelly who gave as much to his club as he did on the field of play. We hope to see you all there for a great days entertainment for all the family.

Listowel Emmets Ladies
Listowel Emmets ladies seniors played Na Gaeil in the first round of the Mary Jo Curran Cup in Clounmacon and recorded a 4-12 to 0-3 victory.  This was an important win as the team had suffered two defeats in the County Championship in the previous two weeks.  The team showed real spirit to bounce back and get back on the winning trail.
Team:  Mary Beades, Louise Horgan, Rachel Stapleton, Aoife Tarrant, Kate Sayers  (capt), Rebecca Stapleton, Aoife Kennelly (0-1), Aoife Shine, Laura Foley, Miriam O Keeffe (0-7), Sarah O Brien, Rebecca Garvey (2-1), Joanne Fitzgerald (2-3). Subs: Sarah Moriarty, Meghan Galvin, Collette Foley, Emma Thornton, Meghan Fealey.
In their second game Listowel received a walk over from Dr. Crokes and the final game is against Castleisland Desmond's on Saturday 17th August.

Meanwhile our under 14's made it to the County League Final but unfortunately lost to Fossa. Well done to all the girls, trainers and mentors on making it to the final.

Last Saturday three teams from Listowel Emmets made the journey to Staker Wallace GAA club outside Kilmallock for the annual Munster Under 8/10 Blitz. Each team played 4 games on the day against teams from Tipperary, Clare, Cork, Waterford and Limerick. Thank you to all those who travelled with the girls on the day and gave such great support.

Best of Luck to all the Listowel Under 12 Soccer team heading to the National Community Games finals and to all their coaches especially Rebecca Horgan. Well done on getting this far, hope you can go all the way now.
