Listowel Emmets Seniors
Emmets Seniors recorded two good results in the North Kerry League this weekend with victories at home to Tarbert on Friday night and away to Brosna on Sunday.
Emmets knocked up an impressive score tally against Tarbert in the rescheduled round one game played under lights on Friday night last. Emmets ran out victors on a scoreline of 0-18 to 1-09. Tarbert's Danny Wren opened the scoring on the 3rd minute, Emmets pulled their opener a minute later from a Noel Kennelly pointed free. Emmets were now beginning to come on top of the situation winning vital possession at both centre field and half forward line areas with Ger McCarthy doing trogon work setting up his forwards. With this dominance Noel Kennelly laid off to Brian Murphy who sweetly split the uprights for a gem of a point to put the victors in front, he followed with a brace of points and other fine points by Billy Doyle, Cormac Mulvihill and Eddie Joe Walsh to give Emmets seven point cushion going in at the break . Half Time Emmets 0-13 Tarbert 0-6. On the resumption Tarbert led from the back and dominated a lot of the play with Wren striking for goal in the thirty-sixth minute, Emmets held off the stiff challenge from Tarbert and ran out victors

Listowel Emmets Ladies
U 8’s/10’s had their first training session of the year on Saturday and there was a great turnout. Nineteen girls U8 and thirteen girls U10 took part. This is a fantastic opportunity for girls to be part of a team and get regular exercise with their friends. All girls under 8/10 are invited to come along and new players are always welcome. The programme will run every Saturday morning in Frank Sheehy park from 10.30 A.M. to 12.00 P.M.
The final ‘Come and Try’ session for the 2013 season was held last Thursday and it was encouraging to see the numbers attending increase each week. Thank you to Mary Beades for organizing this initiative and to Jim Whyte, Helen McCarty and Gemma Hannon for taking the training sessions. We look forward to seeing all the girls who took part in Emmets Ladies this year.
On a bitterly cold Sunday morning our U12 girls played Austin Stacks in Frank Sheehy park. Although they lost by 3 points it was another cracking game from the girls. Their next match is away to Corca Dhuibhne on Saturday 16th. Leaving from the community centre at 10.00 A.M.
The U16’s facilitated the county U14 team with a challenge match on Tuesday night in Tralee I.T. This was great preparation for the game held under lights on Friday night at home  where they had a comprehensive win over Corca Dhuibhne. Missing from the line out was Savanna McCarthy who was preparing to travel for training camp with the Irish soccer team in Cork.
The senior team were due to play Laune Rangers in the county league last Sunday but Laune Rangers failed to field a full team.  The seniors will next play Sneem Kenmare away in the county league on Saturday 16th at 5pm.
Under 16 and the senior team continue training on wednesdays at 7.00 P.M. in the Cow’s Lawn.
Thank you to everyone who helped out on Saturday at the National League game between Kerry and Clare.
