Listowel Emmets Notes - Monday 12th November 2012

Listowel Emmets Monthly Draw

Commencing shortly, we will be running a monthly draw that will take place on the last Wednesday of each month at the Clubhouse. The cost of the draw will be €5 per month which is less than the cost of a weekly Lottery Quickpick. The organising committee is currently selling tickets and we are encouraging people to sign up for a yearly ticket for €60 that will also include you in a special draw for 2 prizes of €100 each that will take place on the night of our first draw.
The annual prize fund will be €10,000 and there will be 8 guaranteed winners each month.
We fully appreciate the financial challenges facing our community at present but by supporting a successful Emmets Club, with players at all levels and ability, it will give the same community enormous pleasure now and in the years to come. We would like to acknowledge your support in the past and hope you will be equally generous again in supporting our club. The launch of our new draw will take place on Tuesday 20th November at 8pm at the clubhouse.

Results

Emmets met with Desmonds in the quarter final of the McMunn's sponsored North Kerry Senior Football Championship on Sunday last in O'Sullivan Park, Finuge. This was a pretty one sided affair as Emmets went in at the break leading by 1-7 to 1-1, thanks to a penalty goaled by Cormac Mulvihill and some fine shooting from Conor Cox, Cormac Mulvihill, David Sheehy and Tadhg Kennelly. While Desmonds Eric Nelligan found the back of the Emmets net with a fisted shot, followed by a pointed free. As the second half developed Emmets owned a lot of possession with Noel Kennelly finding the back of the net on the 38th minute, with Denis Walsh very dominant in the middle combining well with Sheehy and Doyle Emmets continued to take fine scores from play and in particular Conor Cox who linked well with Tadhg Kennelly to finish high to the net from close range for the Listowel sides third goal. The game was well and truly over at this stage as Desmonds registered their only score of the half on the 49th minute. Final Score Emmets 3-18 Castleisland Desmonds 1-02

This was a very under strength Castleisland Desmonds team and Emmets will now meet a much sterner test when they clash with Beale last year's beaten championship finalist in two weeks time. Best for Emmets were without doubt Conor Cox taking 1-07 of which 1-06 was from play, Denis Walsh, Jack McGuire, John Heaphy, Jamie Barry and Cormac Mulvihill also showed well.

Team: Shane Quinn, Jamie Barry, Jack McGuire, John Heaphy, Ger McCarthy (C), Brian McGuire, Cormac Mulvihill (1-01,(1-0 pen), Noel Kennelly (1-01,01f), Denis Walsh, Eddie Joe Walsh, David Sheehy (0-1), Padraig Buckley, Conor Cox (1-06, 0-1f), Tadhg Kennelly (0-1), Michéal Lynch

U14s: The North Kerry Championship semi final Emmets V St. Senan's will take place on Sunday next 18th November at 2pm in Duagh. Best of luck to the team and their managers.

Emmets Ladies

Listowel Emmets Ladies U14 team played their last game of the season on Sunday 11th November against Corca Duibhne in the North Kerry plate final. Despite a superb Emmets team performance, Corca Duibhne proved to be the stronger side on the day. The players are great ambassadors for their club and ladies football and should be proud of how they conducted themselves over the long season. This team bravely and skillfully won the Division 2 County title, testament to their hard work during the year. Thank you to all the players who gave their time and effort to training and in matches. I wish those players moving on to U16 level all the best. A big thank you to the parents and management team who gave their time and skills to making this season both successful and enjoyable. Hope to see you all back again for 2013 season.

Travelling to Castlegregory last Sunday the Juniors were always going to find a challenging game in the Shield Final of North Kerry Senior League. Although the hard work accomplished by the girls in training was in evidence by the worthy opposition they gave, Castlegregory ran out convincing winners. Many thanks to the players for their fantastic commitment to this team over the past season.

Scór na nÓg Chiarraí Thuaidh

All roads lead to the Marian Hall Moyvane last Saturday November 10 where the North Kerry Finals of Scór na nÓg Sponsored by Eileen and Paddy Horgan Amber Filling Station Tarbert Road Listowel took place. Once again Listowel Emmets were well represented. Our Quiz Team: Shawn Carey, Ciarán Pierse and Daniel Sheehan took 1st place and qualified to the County Semi Final. The boys gave an outstanding performance on the night and great credit to their parents and teachers at St Michael's College in their preparation of the boys for the quiz.

As usual the standard was extremely high. Saoirse Kennedy represented the Club in the Solo Singing Category and got 2nd place on the night being pipped at the post for a place in the semi final by Moyvane's Lisa Mulvihill. Well done also to our Music Group: Aisling Keane, Emily McCarthy, Edel Quinn, Meabh Trench and Fionnuala Trench. The girls put on a brilliant performance on the night and we hope to see them back again next year. Congratulations to Jack Hennessy and all the team in Moyvane for another successful and well run night of Scór.
