Listowel Emmets Senior ladies hosted Scartaglin in the quarter final of the Mary Jo Curran Cup last Sunday in Frank Sheehy Park and unfortunately were well beaten on the day. The team management knew that the lack of a game in over 6 weeks would be a huge stumbling block to overcome and especially against Scartaglin who had being playing in the Munster club championship. Listowel started well with early points from Erin Finucane and Miriam O Keeffe but Scartaglin responded with 1-3 before goals from Caoimhe O Sullivan and Miriam O Keeffe saw Listowel lead before half time but the late concession of a goal saw Scartaglin lead 2-4 to 2-3 at half time. The second half started with a blitz of points for Scartaglin and effectively this killed off the game. Our girls battled away and a goal from Abby McMahon was the least they deserved but on the day Scartaglin were deserving winners.
Best of luck to Aoife Shine who will represent the ladies team in the Cube where her opposition will include her team mate Miriam O Keeffe.
